I guarantee these guys know more about apple computers than the people who work at that apple store.
which, to all who have applied to no avail, we all know is the saddest thing...
EVER!

It's accompanied by a picture which I'll link to below. The only reason it's interesting is that the diagram clearly shows 2 trackpad buttons. The patent also talks in great detail about cooling which could be an indicator of a faster processor.
If you're very bored (like me) you'll scan throu some of the other patents and there are clear some for spring loaded folders and what I reckon to be iSync.
It would seem unlikely that all the cooling relates to the current PowerBook as I believe that this would require a case redesign (shame, I like the look of the Ti-Book, mines awesome).
Anyway, that's just a little something for people to chew over.

i couldn't see picture, but a new apple powerbook and a new apple consumer laptop are guaranteed, it is just a matter of when...next year? two years? five years?
high end laptops are easy to call powerbook, but what would apple call its next major/radically different consumer laptop?
i still vote for the name "ibook"...even if the next major ibook machine has dual g4s and a superdrive and goes faster than 1.2 ghz and sports a titanium shell
...at that point, powerbook will have a g5
i would never want to see any future apple laptop be called the 800 series or an AP/Ltp-1A model :p

IGN is very biased, its just another port with gimmicky motion add-ons. Plus its EA, which should tell you enough already.

I haven't seen any real difference between the tabbed browsing in FF and Safari. What feature are you talking about?
The main difference for me is that Firefox's method for closing one tab is annoying to me.
I also prefer the gray look of Safari (stands apart from pages instead of blending in with white pages and adding to the Inredible Creeping Web Clutter) , the black icons (ditto on the clutter) and the compact toolbars... at first it makes you think, "where's the rest of the browser?" And then you're GLAD Safari fits the same stuff in less space. (But I do turn on the Status Bar.)

Isn't that what they do for their high-end now?:)
There is validity to the fact that a 64bit processor does not a Sun or SGI make. However, there are many companies (my employer inluded) that would leap at the chance to get a Unix based 64bit server system that didn't cost $26,000 to upgrade RAM. Heck, we would be willing to get more processors (read: several Xserves) to cut out the Sun price-gouging, so long as there were software solutions for our needs available in OS X Server.
The real issue would seem to be whether or not Apple can intice specialized software devopers that traditionally coded only for Sun &/or SGI to delve into Cocoa. If this can be accomplished, not only will Apple prosper, but so will former Sun/SGI customers. To those that don't know, Apple's hardware may be pricey for the average consumer, but it is dirt cheap for the average IT department.

Instead of the iMac, there are now the MacBooks.
Sorry if this has been posted before, not enough time to look up.

Nah, that was for the cheaper is better debate.
If that were true we would all be buying Daewoo's right now.
And you'll note I didn't compare them to Mercedes, because I would have purchased the big Daewoo (the one with the Mercedes powertrain) if they imported it for under 20k.
However the 200MPH Yugo is just plain silly, and could be considered a cheap suicide note.
I just didn't want to get into the Apple vs. PC debate - because I lack the reality distorting drugs.
Once again
Note: the above post has no basis in reality. But for those that have always used Apples, sometimes it's really hard to think like a PC user without drugs.

Yeah... it really pains me to uninstall firefox... that extra effort of dragging it to the trash is just too much. They should spend their resources making updating save me 10s on mac instead of security and feature updates... *sighs*

I wouldn't say it's "ugly" as much as it is "different". Word has had the same look/menus/locations of things forever. I guess they felt that they needed a change to match all those awesome changes in Vista.

...should have frickin awesome power dissipation (G3ish). 2 cents and a used jawbreaker says the iBook goes G4 when the 7447(low power 7457) comes out! (Then, later, the TiBook can use the low voltage version of the 970, the PowerMac can have the high voltage 970, and the iMac and eMac can have 7457s).

Sony belongs to both the DVD consortium which publishes the DVD-RW standard and the DVD+RW standards body. Nice to see that they are using somebody elses notebook DVD-RW drive. They seem to be covering both bases.

for crying out load, who cares if a pc can do its sums better than a mac. My brother does maths better than me but i kick him in english.
In other words if i am more productive on my mac then it doesnt matter that it might be a little 'slower' it is a faster machine because i can work faster. End of story. New Thread.

I dont think we will see an imac update until after the powerbooks. If the imacs were updated, they would be faster than the powerbook (this is assuming the proc. would be updated) , creating confusion in apple's product line.
