But without going dual what kind of speed bump could they give the powerbook? 1ghz would only be 200mhz increase, but it wuold be the same frequency as the currently shipping powermacs.. making the powermacs look bad

Though what you say is possible and we might catch a stray signal from thousands of years ago you ought to do a little research into the UFO phenomenon. Look at the military and the police cases on file for the good cases and look at why our govt finds it so necessary to black out so much info even from 50 years ago. Fact is they are hiding more then just our own secret aircraft projects. Plenty of good solid cases on record.

nah the great thing about Google at the moment is that it's the lightest page on the internet. It's nice to be there if you choose to use it, but for now keep Google as it is.
I agree. I first switched to google because of it's anti yahooness of trying to put everything on their frontpage. Stocks. Wedding proposals. Weather in some city i'm not affiliated with. I hated it.
Google said "what are you searching for?"

No it is not. It's not theft in any defnition of the word! Seriously: if I walk in to a store and take CD from the shelf, and not pay it, I'm stealing. If I make an identical copy of the CD and leave the original on the shelf, I'm not stealing, I'm committing a copyright-infringment. But I'm not stealing.
Same logic: if I take someone else's car, and drive away with it, I'm stealing it. But if I create an identical copy of the car (using a replicator I got from Star Trek) for myself, have I stolen anything? From whom have I stolen?
I find it rather surprising how blindly people here defend Apple, even after seeing how they remove your rights little by little. How many times can you burn your iTunes-songs to CD? It used to be ten times. But Apple reduced it to seven. Then they removed the ability to share/stream your songs from itunes to others. Little by little, you feel the DRM-noose tightening around your necks. It seems like a major PR-coup to me, when you have Apple reducing your rights little by little, and you guys are screaming "Yes! Reduce our rights even more!"
Well said. I have a feeling that the people blindly defending Apple and calling it "theft" don't quite understand how this program works. At least I hope that's the case.

trying to extrapolate the total wattage of the psu from the stated max current is silly. let's grab some numbers from spare psus i've got laying around... all numbers are for 100-125v, mostly 115v though:
dve 150w: 4a
astec 160w: 5a
sparkle 235w: 7a
macase 250w: 8a
fki/enhance(iirc) 250w: 6a
deer/l&c 250w: 6a
emacs 250w(redundant): 6a
sparkle 350w: 10a
pcp&c 5/700w: 10a
notice a tight (ie, something that can be used as a point to reason from) mathematical correlation here? what's that? no, neither do i, really. but i can easily go pull a dozen more sample points...
In other words, READ THE WORDs PRINTED ON THE POWER SUPPLY and stop trying to use formulas.
The XServe Power Supply does not equal one from a Mirror Mac (IT FEEDS the MONITOR in addition to the computer).
And if you don't understand what I'm saying then ...

Don't give me this "double for $40" and then make out they're doing me a favour.
Come on. Man, do you know what margins are on an eMac? There is no way that they could put 512 in that thing and keep it priced well. 256 yea, that is believable, but 512! No way.

Do you really think you should make these people's email addresses public. Not sure if you are telling the truth or not, but I know that whenever I have posted my email address in places before, (old addresses with limited storage), I have had problems with large quantities of spam. Even with efficient spam blockers, some can get through and if you get too fascist with spam, you can run the risk of blocking something real and important.
sjobs@apple.com would be a pretty obvious guess to Steve's e-mail address. But I bet it's got a whitelist. I couldn't imagine how much crap he would get without one (plus, with that email address posted all over the web, spam spiders would pick it up and have a field day with it)

Just the other day I was saying to a colleague of mine that I thought it would eventually would ship in March. I still believe that too, whether this story is true or not.
Let's hope Leopard has one or two killer features that get splashed across the media just as Microsoft announce the final delay in Longhaul shipping. Hopefully the Mac ads will embed into the public's minds, the new MacBook and iPod AV announcements will impress and keep Apple in the public eye and then boom, Leopard.
Finger's crossed.

I was 16 and applied at an Apple Store here in MI and received a phone call asking me to come in for an interview. I only applied for the heck of it, I lived 45 minutes away, so it wouldn't be economically feasible. It's rare that anyone under 18 works there, but it IS possible. Give it your best shot. :)
Be aware that if you apply for a job "just for the heck of it", when you already know it's not something you're going to say yes to if you get the job, you are probably ruining your chances of getting a job there in the future. I hire in my department, and every time we have a job opening, we get enormous amounts of applications. It takes me days to sort through them and choose which ones to call in, and if I discovered that someone had wasted my time, I would not be happy.

PB G5. It's just not funny to me anymore and it's the only one I'm 99% sure will never happen. I think all of the others will happen at some point, eventually. Though I think the tablet won't happen for quite a long while

Alright, lets be honest here. Most of apple's hardware is designed for video editing /graphic work... and no matter what, in the end it all boils down to the software. Sure I can get a PIECE laptop that is "100000% faster" then a mac, but is it going to run Final Cut Pro? NO! So, until you come up with an editing program for PC that WON AN EMMY...AND will render on a 1 inch thick laptop, please post your PIECE laptop on a PC SITE!

When there is an update, what is the usual shipping time? For the higher (new) G4s, it seems to be 6-8 weeks. Good grief, that's a long time. I'm willing to wait for October ... but I can't wait 2 months to receive my computer. Any previous experience out there?
Thanks in advance,
Kate

Well, the $1000 (US) 20" ACD will do nicely. But it secures the fact that the headless Mac to come will be a G4, since otherwise they'd undercut the iMac.

If you have any specific questions about inbox.com then you can ask on http://www.emailaddresses.com/forum/
I think this service had shut down sometime back and there was a takeover, they are actually a ISP.
I would recommend fastmail.fm but its a paid service.
