A lot of people complain about Apple's displays being too expensive.
Others complain that you can buy similar quality ones for less.
My complaint is the lack of connectivity options.
Most other displays 17" and up have at least a DVI and a VGA connection.
Some have two DVIs, and some even have composite & S-video too.
I remember when SGI's excellent 17.3" widescreen display was out, it used a propietary connection which required a new video card, but they later made an adapter so you could hook up, DVI, VGA and even HDTV to it.
I don't see Apple putting more connections to their monitors anytime soon, but maybe when the new ones make their debut, they could also come with a $250 or less adapter that would have ADC/w DVI adaptor included, VGA and S-video/w composite adapter included.

No, its only using ~100% of the one cpu. Should I just wait for my current w.u. to finish and then install the dual processor version of folding@home?
Check to see if there is two under the same name. Also why is it using 8_%? Should it not be using 50% or 100%?

pro: 1.6 and 1.8 ghz 64 bit chip
con: not until the middle of next year when wintels will hit 3.5 ghz on their machines
is this a case of too little way too late?
does that mean that apple can see their first 2 ghz machine in 2004 when wintel will be at 4 ghz?
personally, i think once macs hit 2 ghz across the board, it won't matter how fast the pc side is
but apple has really taken forever just to hit 1 ghz and only one line of apple's computers even go that fast

So, until you come up with an editing program for PC that WON AN EMMY...AND will render on a 1 inch thick laptop, please post your PIECE laptop on a PC SITE!

I want to pose this question out there.
I haven't talked to Anyone about this, but It just seems:
a) Weird to have a form in the archive, where the rest of the 'forums' are locked/aged into that location.
b) Its all the way at the bottom of the page.
Yeah yeah being 'old skool' is being put in a archive, but give this forum some respect.
Anyone else?
(If no one posts in this thread today it only proves my point) :p

If you post from home and never mention you're an Apple employee on the forums or tell your co-workers that you post, I don't see how Apple could find out.

...that you didn't see my post about dual channel DDRII? That fills up the 800MHz that's useable on the bus quite nicely.
I'm amazed that I missed that post. You had a good point before I did.
Whatever the case, the 970 doesn't need an L3 cache to perform well (although, an L3 cache helps tremendously). Our 512K of L2 cache should be enough with the memory bandwidth at our disposal.

Do you have any interesting rumors. Both of your threads, this one and the PDA ones are the most commonly said rumors on all of the message boards. They have been regurgitated so many times that theres nothing left. Come up with something that is actually believable.

There's a big difference. This is not a system security flaw. It's simply a matter of someone reverse engineering a file format. AFAIK, there isn't a single file format which has not been reverse engineered. That's actually a trivial task.
Um, wrong. Did you read the story?
Currently, when you buy a song from iTunes, it sends the song to you with no DRM. Your copy of iTunes then adds the DRM using your personal key. So, if you make a copy of the song before iTunes adds the DRM, you've got a DRM-free music file. That's it.
I say go DVD Jon. DRM like this is doomed to fail. If you can hear it, you can copy it. Simple as that. Maybe one day the RIAA will figure that out... probably not, though.

That's nice, but I'm hoping for January. Somehow I have this gutsy feeling that Moto is really gonna start stepping up to the plate and getting things done since the switch ads came out. The sooner the better, I say. Oh, and BTW, Apple may be planning to phase out (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2002/08/20020822171217.shtml) the 15-inch iMacs this month. This is the way I envision the next generation of iMacs:

Middle 1.00 GHz 17"
Low 867 MHz 17"

That is, Dual 50Mhz.
Seriously, these rumors are almost bad as the Dual 1.6 Ghz powermacs. Although I have never sat down and used one, I have heard that the TiBook has some major heat issues. Putting a dual processor in it would only make the problem worse.
On the other hand, Apple is an amazing company and anything is possible.
On the third hand, that superdrive looks to be a perfect addition to the next round of PowerBooks.
