How about $300 desktops and $600 laptops?
well now, we all know that isn't going to happen anytime soon, even though we would like it too. ;)

LOL @ Stud Mario! Thats awesome MRU :D
Anyway, it was funny for me to hear this because when my friend and I were blasting through Co-Op he said "Ya know, I bet they are gonna make this into a movie, the dumb-ass plot and excessive gore will make stoned teens cry with joy"
And sure enough....

It looks that way, and maybe they are doing the same WU. It's normal with a two instances of folding. After they both finish you will get different WU's. Stanford then sees that you have two different instances of folding going. Now they think something has gone wrong with the download and have given you the same WU.
Gotcha.. I'll keep an eye on it, thanks!

I appreciate what DVD Jon did to help Linux owners watch dvds, but this is going to far. I hope Apple come up with a fix for this, and soon.
How is this going farther than DeCSS for DVD's?
Last I checked, Linux users couldn't use iTunes DRM'd songs on Linux either. How is this different from the DVD cracker? Its purpose is to use digital files LEGALLY PURCHASED on a device of the purchaser's choice.
The only differences here are that 1) the offending company is Apple, and 2) The iTunes Music Store's terms of service agreement. By using Jon's tool, you KNOWINGLY and WILLINGLY are violating an agreement that you yourself agreed to.
I never signed away my rights to play a DVD on Linux when I bought it, for example, so DeCSS has a tiny bit more of a leg to stand on.
But, this certainly isn't "going too far"

Judging from the number of orders we are getting for RAM, sales of the MacBook AND the MacBook Pro must be huge.
I think there was a demand holdback on the Pro, waiting for the MacBook shoe to drop, because we are now seeing a huge spike in orders for RAM for both models.

okay, so the subject was a little bit of a trap, but it's true. Just look here:
http://www.apple.com/za/priceguide/
I'm sure it is just a typo, but apple has listed that there is a mobility 9000 in the faster and fastest models of the powermac.
Just found it interesting, I'm not trying to feed any rumors that mac is "revolutionizing the market" with putting mobility chips in their desk tops. :)

I was at work yesterday installing some ram into a new eMac and I quickly ran the 'Apple Hardware test kit' over it...
Under one of the Panels in the test kit it has a BATTERY section.. marked 'Right' and 'Left'
However, no models of Apple Laptop/dekstop computer have been available with Dual batteries until well after these Test Kits surfaced years ago now.
I suggest you try on your iMac or eMac with test kit 1.2.1 (this is what i used).. Its under the profiler tab on the top right...
Interesting huh.. I doubt this was left in accidently, as the last powerbook that support two batts, (The PISMO) never came with the Test Kits...

XP also will freek out if it has no video card. I once got a certain BIOS to go on with no video card but XP shot that idea down really fast.

It just seems like this section is essentially useless since hardly anybody bothers to read it much les post in it, even Switch Stories, Mac Scene and User Projects get more action than this section...

I'm not quite sure I would go that far. I would be more opted to say this article places more validity on the rumors pending, but not a right-out conformation.
Very exciting....

When i showed some friends the pro mouse they asked "where is the button?" Oh, that, old stuff, the whole mouse is the button, optical too.
Response: "Cool ....." - continue to stare and now touch and play a little before i tell them that i would rather they didnt use my computer like a toy. (ok ok ok, so i had chess up but still office was in the background ...)

But yes, it's been discussed before. Potentially, a Windows virus could infect the OS X partition.

travelling in the school elevator the other day, i was wondering about the reliability of having such an odd cylindrical elevator. good to know my intuitions were right that it wouldn't work reliably.
