Sorry to say it once again but I REALLY hope you all get "yikesed" soon and that something really new comes out early next year. Then I'll buy. Until then I'll keep my money in my pocket. :)
Who cares if we get, "yikesed". These current machines are faster then 99% of all people can and will use anyway. That's the problem with the current computer insustry. The portion of people driving for faster and faster hardware is gettting smaller and smaller. At some point there won't be enough money in driving the computer speed up at the current rate and it will slow because the slowest part of most systems today is the human user.
Again, I repat I am enjoying currently one fo the fastest personal computers in the world while you do what!? I hope the green or plastic or whatever you have in your pocket is bringing as big of smiles to your face as this computer is doing for me.

Keep in mind Intel is planning to replace the PIVs in the upper end of the mobile line with a chip that will only clock in the mid-1GHz range at launch. Furthermore the high speeds of the PIV-M chip can't be sustained as well as the G4 could sustain its 1GHz.
As far as mobile computing goes I would take an embedded chip like the G4 any day of the week.

If you're a gamer, and the question is between a Mac Pro or iMac 24" and a PS3, then I'd say the Mac in a heartbeat.

I disagree with the comment put forth that the programmers are the ones that are breaking the law and the users aren't. Actually, it's the users who are.
Although, I'd asume the programmers also are users, so they too broke contract when they used it.
There might be something illegal about it's distribution, but I don't know enough about the law there.

[QUOTE=amateurmacfreak]I get what you mean, but I don't think it's the best analogy. ;)
First Jobs has to massacre thousands of people??
Yeah, see the difference? :p
But I do get it's basis... not a bad thought, in the regard you mentioned. :)[/QUOT
thats actually not what im tryng to say. when did i say jobs had to kill ppl? just b/c im saying they are alike doesnt mean im speaking in every sense. the only ways i think they are alike are in my above post. i dont think you get what i mean b/c you proceeded to talk about jobs killing ppl and tried to suggest that that was part my arguement.

this would be one hell of an update if the TiBooks really get all these things. 1GHz, DDR RAM and a 64MB video card!  :D
I see the 64MB card in PowerBooks and 32MB card in iBooks FAR more likely than DDR RAM
1GHz is not unlikely because the top end machine is USUALLY the new low end so that would mean 800MHz and something else. 800 - 667 = 133. While 800 and 933 sounds more likely than 800 and 1GHz I think there is a move to get machines above the 1GHz mark.
cb911 - how weird, I read your sig and it reminded me of a Custard line and then I see ur from BrisVegas.... weird.
BTW, the line was "this world divides into people who think there's 2 kinds of folks and those who don't".

I personally will be in the market to buy a current iBook within the next 4 months.....so if they are updated then all the better for me and the other kats.
What I would like to see first up is a G4 processor. Nothing with 700mhz+ but about 500Mhz (the same as the initial TiBook) but with about 512MB of L3 cache or even 256L2 running at FULL CPU clock speed.
if not a G4 well then Apple should negotiate last years batch of IBM G3's which last I read were capable of running up to 1.5Ghz! Dont know if any batch does exist though--aftermarket buyers will know for sure.
I'm hoping for at least 32MB of DDR video RAM onboard via ATi or NVidia, please bebe please! And also a 5400 RPM ATA/66 or ATA/100 Hard drive!!!
THe TiBook i want at least 64MB of Video Ram being of PC2600 DDR or better and I want to see a 7200RPM or 5400RPM Hard disk drive on a ATA/100 bus not the ****** ATA/33 or ATA/66 that is the laptop universe main stay.
I kinda like the 12" iBook much better than the 14"; the size of a text book principle really suits the purpose and the image and the success of the iBook!!!!

Voted for IV, but it's really II. Golbez was the Best Villian Ever. He's big, he engages you in fights you can't win (well used in this game), and drops Meteo on you. Plus, cool theme music.
Kefka poisoned an entire town in FFVI.
Kefka was a useless, giggling fop. Golbez was behind some real genocide (Mist, Damcyan, Fabul, Mysidia, Eblan - wow, lots of towns got wrecked in that game!)
In fairness to Sephiroth (screw Aeris), he did also destroy your town, kill Tifa's dad, and get within inches of dropping a killer meteor on the whole planet.
The day I went to Funcoland and traded in my SNES FF 3 cart for almost the whole cost of a new copy of Xenogears - best move ever. Game just dragged after the World of Ruin.

Funny to go back and look at the LCD iMac threads and the huge discussion surrounding a 19" or 20" screen and how it won't ever happen.....;)

It was fun but like someonce once described it, it was meant to be an "introductory RPG" with colorful known characters, easy, linear gameplay mechanics mechanics, player intervention during turn based attacks (timed hits) and an easy to pick up story.
It is a fun RPG but hardly the best, I liked it better than the N64 Paper Mario though (haven't played GC Paper Mario).
I will say something though, Super Mario RPG is much more an RPG than TES IV Oblivion will ever hope to be... :)

Single player mostly. I just find I'd rather be doing something else than playing video games when I'm with a group of friends. Unless it's something interactive like Guitar Hero, haven't tried a Wii yet but I'm sure I'd dig that.

Oh no no I didnt mean you were bragging. I mean't I'm litteraly Jealous of you.
Jobs I can find that pay 9+ you either need to work construction, which no offense but I can't speak Spanish (its texas), or you need to work as a Telemarketer.
Night shifts at walmart might get that pay also, but I'm not sure.
I go to a community college right now so there is no housing help what so ever and the cheapest apartment with in 20 minute drive is 650 a month for single bedroom. With 16 hours for spring semester there was no way I could survive on the pay most places pay here... That is why I am jealous becuase if I was making 9+ oh man...
Sorry to hear about your dilemma- although, it is one shared by the vast majority of college students. I certainly count my blessings.:)
Although, my extra money usually goes to financing my addiction to all things Apple...... :D

Or we could use the AMD way of setting are chips.
1800+ which runs at like 1.6 ghz... Which wouldn't fool many people but hey it could work... ;) +
Well all I know is that we need some Real clock speed, or something that is just mad fast.
Right now.

Last time I saw the motorola road map, the 75xx wasn't anywhere on it. The G4 is shown as 74xx, and the G5 as 85xx. The other notable convention is that the 7yyy processors are marked as desktop processors, while the 8yyy processors are marked as communication processors. Meanwhile, the key difference between G4 and G5 seems to be the possibility of either 32- or 64-bit on the G5 (G4 is 32-bit only), and the G5 has a new bus and rapidIO.
This suggests two things. Firstly, the moto road map doesn't envisage a desktop G5. Second, if the 7500 does exist, then moto/Apple could call it whatever generation they want. The conventions noted above suggested that the 7 in the first place implies a desktop processor, and the 5 in the second place implies a G5. Again, if the 7500 exists, it suggests to me either that moto had a late change of heart and decided to produce a desktop G5 after all, or that Apple persuaded them not to include the desktop G5 on the roadmap. The first possibility might explain the delays; the second possibility would be entirely true to form for Apple.
The 7500 rumours suggest that it's a 32-bit chip with rapidIO based on the book-E architecture. This sounds a lot like a 32-bit G5 to me.
It might be worth noting that the G5 is available in the form of the 8560. Sadly, this is for embedded applications, but it shows that moto can put the technology on a chip if it wants to. It's also worth noting that the moto roadmap includes the G6, carrying the 86xx designation. This suggests that the G6 is also planned for embedded applications only. Time for Apple to go IBM?
